International Yoga Day 2025: Uniting for "One Earth, One Health"
International Yoga Day, celebrated annually on June 21, was a powerful global acknowledgment of yoga's profound impact on well-being. This ancient gift from India's heritage nurtured both body and mind, offering a path to physical vitality and inner peace. As the world geared up for the 11th International Yoga Day in 2025, the theme, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," highlighted a crucial message.

What Was the Theme for International Yoga Day 2025?
This year's theme, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," underscored the interconnectedness of individual well-being and the health of our planet. It resonated deeply with global calls for sustainability and unity, echoing India's vision of "One Earth, One Family, One Future."
Beyond the core theme, 2025's celebration in India featured 10 signature events. The flagship event, 'Yoga Sangam,' showcased mass yoga demonstrations at an astonishing 100,000 locations across the nation. Other notable events included Yoga Bandhan, Yoga Park, Yoga Samavesh, Yoga Prabhava, Yoga Connect, Harit Yoga, Yoga Unplugged, Yoga Mahakumbh, and Samyoga, each designed to engage and inspire millions.
The Significance of June 21st: A Day for Global Harmony
International Yoga Day was established on June 21 by the United Nations General Assembly, following a significant push from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. The UN adopted a resolution on December 11, 2014, recognizing yoga's universal appeal.
As PM Modi articulated during the session, "Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action… a holistic approach [that] is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature."
The inaugural International Yoga Day in New Delhi on June 21, 2015, made history by setting two Guinness World Records: the largest yoga session, with 35,985 participants, and the most nationalities (84) in a single session. This monumental event cemented the day's purpose: to raise worldwide awareness about yoga's many benefits, emphasizing its role in integrating mind and body for holistic health and well-being.
